Covid-19: Buhari extends Phase Two of Lockdown By One Week


C Muhammadu Buhari has permitted the extension of segment two of the ease of lockdown in the country by one week.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Mr Boss Mustapha, introduced this at the briefing of the PTF which held in Abuja, on Monday.

He stated the choice became vital following the non-stop spike in the cases of COVID-19 in the country. Mustapha delivered that the announcement was once made following the end of phase two of the gradual easing of lockdown on Monday, July 27, 2020.

The SGF stated that Nigerians have lamentably come to the inevitable conclusion that the majority of Nigerians, irrespective of status, creed, and stage of education, proceed to stay in denial of the virulent nature of the virus and constantly breach the recommendations put in place.

Mustapha referred to that due to the upcoming Sallah, Eid-el-Kabir festivities, which coincides with the expiration of the modern section of ease of lockdown, it will be prudent to lengthen this segment of lockdown by means of one week.

Recall that Buhari had authorised the extension of the 2nd section of the eased lockdown via four weeks with impact from Tuesday, June 30, 2020, to nighttime of July 27, 2020. He additionally gave permission for interstate motion outside of the curfew hours with impact from July 1, 2020.
